about

Falling was performed on purposely low-tech and hand built instrumentation in a makeshift studio over a two-week period in 2011 when members of Voice of Eye lived in different parts of the U.S. These rough tracks were later reworked in 2013 using new methods of composition with digital manipulation we had not previously employed.

For this release we wanted to explore distant, stripped, low tech, dirty, noisy sounds echoing from the abyss. The color of the sound is dark and industrial in the truest sense of the word: the sound of mechanization unrestrained, while still interacting with the human elements Voice of Eye always bring. This experimentation with more sonic and ominous textures was sprinkled with an ample helping of acoustic instruments played with demented impression. Great washes of sound blow like dustbowl clouds covering the ambience in an overwhelming inky blackness punctuated by liquid metallic rays of frozen lightening. Three tracks of more traditional origin break the hopeless oppression and act to cleanse the listener’s palette thus contrasting both.
